Trying to understand if Oils are  good for you hair? I got you, boo!

Ok, so now let me get into it. What is flaxseed anyways? Flaxseed is nothing but a vegetal diamond, it originates from the Linum usitatissimum L plant. I know, I got to specific there…but flaxseed is a seed packed with nutrients and compounds beneficial to health. I first start adding ground flaxseed to my banking good because I had heard of the hormonal benefits it provided. If you read my previous posts, you might remember that I had horrible hormonal acne, so I was trying everything and anything possible. It’s been an essential in my kitchen for years now. So, in this post you will learn more about Flaxseed benefits, Flaxseed gel benefits and how to actually make flaxseed.

Let’s check on a list of the key components that makes flaxseed so good!!

What is Flaxseed?

  1. Lignans: These are phytochemical compounds that have antioxidant properties and can help regulate hormone levels in the body. I truly recommend it to any of you having hormonal imbalances. Also, feel free to reach out with questions,  I know it’s tough.
  2. Omega-3: Flaxseed is one of the best plant sources of Omega-3 fatty acids. Omega-3 fatty acids are essential for heart health, brain health and reducing inflammation in the body.
  3. Soluble fiber: It’s key for digestive health!!
  4. Vitamins and minerals: Flaxseed has a variety of vitamins and minerals, including vitamin E, magnesium and manganese. These nutrients play essential roles in various bodily functions, such as immune function, bone health, and energy production.

Flaxseed for Curly Hair

So, what’s the benefit of flaxseed for curly hair?! Well, there are many. Flaxseed can help keep your curls healthy and beautiful because as I said, it’s rich in nutrients. You can use it in your shampoo, conditioner, hair masks and any styling hair creams.

Flaxseed will help with your curls’ moisture and nourishment, and therefore, it will help you in case you have a drier hair. Since curly hair lacks natural oils in the length and ends, ingredients like this are important for replenishing oils necessary for hair health, which will help control frizz and lack of shine.

Another benefit of flaxseed oil is keeping the hair cuticles sealed, due to the action of ceramides. With this, it helps combat porosity – which is common in curly  hair. It controls nutrient loss, promotes hair definition, and stimulates silkiness and softness.

As curly hair requires a lot of hydration and nutrition, it is worth investing in a complete routine with flaxseed oil, from shampoo to styling. In shampoo and conditioner, it will be essential for cleaning without drying out the hair, while in the mask, it will deposit nutrients into the hair fiber, leaving the curls soft, silky, and shiny. In the leave-in conditioner, the nourishing properties of flaxseed oil will be essential to help detangle the hair, as well as providing plenty of definition to the locks.

Convinced yet? Ok, so let’s move on to the application!

Flaxseed Gel for Curly Hair

What is flaxseed gel?

Flaxseed gel is made by cooking the flaxseeds to release its natural oils. Once you cook it, it will result in a thick, gelatin-like substance that you can put in your hair.

I make my flaxseed gel at tome and it never ever fails me. I got receipts, boo! Don’t worry, keep reading and I will show you.

Literally quite anything will wait my hair down, but flaxseed was made for me!! It’s like it know what your hair needs and adjusts to it. Not convinced why you should use flaxseed gel in your curly hair routine? Well, flaxseed gel helps you grow your hair faster and longer, because it nourishes the hair follicles. Because it’s rich in Vitamin E, it provides nutrition to the scalp and reduces damage. I’m telling you, give it a change…you will not regret it!

But Eve, are you sure flaxseed is good for our curls?! Yes!!! Flaxseed gel creates the most perfect curl clumps and it reduces frizz. Can no one tell me anything when my hair looks that good with flaxseed gel.  The thing I love about it is that it help my clumps come together easier than any other styling product. Though, I sometimes mix my hair styling hair cream with flaxseed gel and that makes my curls look great too!

Flaxseed Gel Receipt

Step 1

  • 2  cups of water
  • 2 tablespoons of flaxseed

In a saucepan, add:

Directions

Bring the flaxseed and water to a boil

Once it starts boiling, reduce the heat and stir occasionally

Let it cook for 5 minutes until the water thickens with the seeds, then turn off the heat

Step 2

  • Let the mixture cool until it is warm

Get another saucepan and a cotton cloth, I usually use my nut milk bag, the easiest

;Strain the seeds into another saucepan until all the seeds are in the cloth and the gel is separated

Step 3

After separating the gel and seeds, store the mixture in a jar with a lid.

Tah-dah!! Your flaxseed gel is ready!

You can keep your flaxseed gel in the refrigerator for a week. This time is how long the amount of mixture you made for hair application will last.

After the gel cools and is in the refrigerator, its consistency becomes thicker and easier to apply to the hair.

Style your hair with flaxseed gel and the result is hydration, styling, definition, and shine. So, are you going to try it?? I can wait to hear if you like it or LOVE IT!!

Heyyy, look at my curls
